And now something completely different…
Lat’s take it easy and play a game, a grown-ups game with simple rules: you have to love watches and you have to know how to enjoy bacchanalian pleasures. It’s simple, we start with a list of drinks and associate them to watches.
To get the ball rolling, I came with a list of seven drinks that I forwarded to my friends TimeCaptain and FormulaTime. You’ll find bellow their choices, as well as my selections. As you will see, in some of the case we agree, but usually we have totally different suggestions.
1. Beer
TimeCaptain’s pick for beer is IWC, because it’s masculine. In this picture, you have the IWC Ingenieur Automatic AMG Black Ceramic © IWC
FormulaTime think that a TAG quartz would go well with beer. In the photo you have a TAG Heuer Carrera Quartz.
For me beer is something that you enjoy with friends in a pub or at home after a day of hard work. For this you need a tool watch, so I immediately taught of Ball. Photo: Ball Engineer Master II Aviator
2. Scotch
For TimeCaptain scotch would go well with a Bremont. Photo: Bremont U2
FormulaTime thinks that scotch and Baume et Mercier can make good companions. Photo: Baume & Mercier Clifton
For scotch I’de suggest an Arnold & Son. Photo: TB Victory from Arnold & Son.
3. Champagne
Champaign is a festive drink, so TimeCaptain picks Patek Philippe. Photo: Patek Philippe Calatrava
FormulaTime picks Rolex Datejust II
You can best enjoy a champaign with a lady, so I vote for CORUM – Golden Bridge Lady
4. Gin
TimeCaptain thinks of Rolex. Rolex Oyster Perpetual, Submariner, 660 ft=200 m. (Photo © Antiquorum)
FormulaTime skipped gin. For me, it would go well with the new Montblanc ExoTourbillon Rattrapante
5. Sake
This was easy, we all agreed on Seiko and TimeCaptain even specified it to be a Grande Seiko
6. Vodka
TimeCaptain would go with an A. Lange & Söhne. In this picture you have the award winning 1815 Rattrapante Perpetual Calendar
I agree with FormulaTime, vodka goes well with Hublot. Photo: Hublot Big Bang Bode Miller
7. Brandy
TimeCaptain thinks of Baume & Mercier. Photo: Baume & Mercier Capeland 10007
FormulaTime picks Panerai. Photo: Panerai Luminor Marina PAM00422
For me, brandy and Breget would make nice rimes. Photo: the 2009 Breguet Marine Royale alarm watch
TimeCaptain’s Extra — Purple shuts
TimeCaptain also added an extra drink, purple shooters that would go well with a TW Steel. Photo: TW Steel Canteen TW515
Now, it’s your turn.
