Pre-Basel 2014 — NOMOS “Berliner Mischung” — the “Berlin Mix”
Kleene and Goldelse, Clärchen and Nachtijall: Four new names for the square NOMOS classic Tetra and four new colours to match—bold turquoise, auspicious gold, baize green and a rich midnight blue for good measure. A rather colourful combination, and almost as colourful as Berlin itself. The city is a melting pot—which is vividly depicted by the new watches from NOMOS Glashütte. In Berlin, Vietnam and Russia are only a short subway ride away. You can live Turkish, Italian or West German style, and very well by all means; after a good brunch, Berlin is a city where a lot happens at once. And this now applies to wrists as well.
The new Berlin set, designed by NOMOS’ in-house creative agency Berlinerblau in Kreuzberg—right in the heart of the city’s creative scene—is a little offbeat and very becoming. And the four new Tetras are powered by the tried-and-tested hand-wound NOMOS Alpha caliber. With one exception: Kleene, the model in turquoise. In this watch, the DUW 4301 caliber with a power reserve indicator is ticking away. This displays the power reserve the watch has left and lets wearers know when it is time to top it up, by winding the crown. After all, Berlin can be rather exhausting as well.
