ERROYL E30 Heritage White — hands-on review
Back in December, we brought you the news about Erroyl, a new Australian brand launching a Kickstarter campaign to fund their debut collection. They started out with the 40 mm dressy E30 Heritage Collection, consisting of three models: the stainless steel Heritage White with white guilloché dial, the Heritage Black with black dial and the rose gold paved Heritage Rose.
It was very well received, in less than a month, the project was fully funded and they could go into production. At the time of writing this review, Erroyl is already shipping out the watches to its backers.
I really liked what I saw on Kickstarter and it made quite excited when Wes Knight, the founder of Erroyl, sent me the tracking code for the E30 Heritage White review sample.

First impressions
Before I would get to describe the watch, first things first, the packaging is quite impressive. A dark grey branded cardboard box contains a luxurious black leather box, also branded, that contains the watch. It’s almost like a matryoshka doll, opening one box after the other, I can feel my heart beating faster, the pressure mounting and then you finally there is the watch. Beautiful!
While opening the boxes, there is the warranty card, the certificate of authenticity and a beautifully printed booklet with information about the brand and the watch. This is exactly the kind of experience, I would expect from a way more expensive watch; unfortunately packaging and printed materials are quite often neglected by smaller brands. While Erroyl’s attention to these details reinforces the fanciness of this dress piece, it is also raising the bar when it comes to expectations from the watch itself.
Dial
Under the flat sapphire crystal, treated with AR coating, the 35 mm dial is quite an eye catcher. Decorated with a fine texture guilloché of concentric circles, that lets the light dance with a sunray effect on it. At 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock stainless steel Roman numeral are applied, accompanied by slender baton indexes. The proportions are right, the dauphine hands, the date window next to the Roman III and the logo at 12 o’clock, they all create a well balanced and harmonious composition.
The magic of this dial is its great readability, despite the fact that all the components are bright. The secret lays in the contrast between the textures and finishes, the polished indexes, numerals and hands next are easily distinguished on the sunray dial.
Although, I can only judge by the photos on Erroyl’s website, the readability of the rose gold on white dial or the stainless steel on black dial must be even better. Since I’m mentioning the other models, on Kickstarter, there was one backer who bought all three models, for $840. Well, sir, I don’t know who you are, but I do know that you got yourself a nice collection of dress watches.
Case
The Erroyl E30 Heritage was thought out as a dress watch, hence its restrained size. At 40 mm x 10 mm, it has the size of timeless classic piece. The polished stainless steel case is a composition of rounded volumes, a legitimate approach, no risks are taken. Maybe, I would have loved to be surprised here, an original twist in the shape or the finish of the case properly done, would have been a good complement to that elegant dial.
The crown has a good grip and proudly bears the Erroyl logo.
Turning the watch around will reveal the sapphire crystal see-through back, displaying the Miyota 9015. The first batch of the Heritage collection comes with a vanilla rotor, future releases will have the rotor decorated with the Erroyl logo.
Strap
The black alligator strap that comes with the E30 Heritage White matches very well this dress watch. While I also got a brown alligator strap, which looks amazing, I don’t think it works with the stainless steel, I would rather recommend it for the E30 Heritage Rose.
The stainless steel buckle has ERROYL engraved on it and future releases will come with a deployment buckle, definitely a nice to have bonus.
Conclusions
The E30 Heritage is really elegant way to start a watch company. I can only praise their effort to create an elegant dress watch, the dial, the case, the strap, everything is designed to thrill. It is reassuring to see a new brand that would go the extra mile to give its customers a memorable experience at a great value.
There are a few details that were unfortunately overlooked, I would have loved to see the same amount of attention used to design the dial, to have been accorded to the case and the movement. As I mentioned, on future releases the rotor will have the Erroyl logo printed on it, proving that Erroyl is listening and is looking to improve.
Would I wear it? Absolutely! I’m in love with the sophisticated elegance of the dial and the size is perfect for my small wrist.
