Introducing SYE – Start Your Engine
There is a new watch brand that will start taking preorders in the coming days, called SYE (Start Your Engine) by Arnaud Pezeron, a French marketing specialist with a passion for design and watches. Ten years ago, he started a watch blog, montresdesign.com where he was sharing his passion for watches, but now with this new microbrand, he is taking this hobby to a whole new level.
SYE will launch with two models, the MOT1ON Automatic Twenty Four and the MOT1ON Chronograph with a mecha-quartz movement — two very interesting and original designs with sporty looks and featuring a soon-to-be-patented system for changing the strap, called Fastback. Since there are no lugs, the Fastback system — a central screw and a hubcap on the back of the watch — will let you change the strap with ease.
With such an easy solution to change a strap, you might be tempted to change them often, but with a unique system like the Fastback, you might wonder if the number of straps is limited. At the launch, you will already have the freedom to choose from 10 high-quality straps and 40 possible combinations.
The fact that Arnaud is a collector and blogger, proves to me that he started SYE from a genuine love for watches and he’s not another marketing guy looking to make a quick buck on Kickstarter. When it comes to the debut collection of SYE watches, I realize applaud the creativity and the guts to come up with something original. We are far from the 1960’s homage watches, there are plenty of big established luxury brands that lack the courage of SYE.
