Rolex edition Deepsea Sea-Dweller D-Blue Dial

Yesterday, Rolex has unveiled a special edition Deepsea Sea-Dweller D-Blue Dial dedicated to the seven mile solo descent of James Cameron to the deepest place on Earth: the bottom of Mariana Trench.

Thanks to its Rolex patented Ringlock system; the watch is waterproof to a depth of 3,900 m (12,800 feet), equivalent of three tonnes. Its construction is based on three elements: a nitrogen-alloyed steel central ring forms the backbone of the system, accompanied by a 5 mm‑thick, domed sapphire crystal and a case back in grade 5 titanium. As the watch plunges deeper and deeper, the Ringlock System becomes tighter and tighter, reinforcing the hermetic seal of the case.

Chromalight blue luminescence

In complete darkness, the Deepsea will glove in blue thanks to its Chromalight blue luminescence, which lasts twice as long as the standard lume.
