Zelos makes another blast on Kickstarter – this time with the Chroma

Just a few months ago, we reported on a bronze diver’s watch, the Zelos Helmsman that had a huge success on Kickstarter, exceeding its initial target multiple times.

Zelos is back, and just after a few hours of launching their next project, the Chroma, the campaign got fully funded.

The Chroma comes in five variations: Skeleton Steel, Skeleton PVD, Chroma Cream, Chroma PVD w/ rose gold accents and Chroma Black. Each Chroma will be numbered, with only 200 of each variant being produced. The Skeleton model will be limited to 100 of each variant due to the limited supply of movements available.

The design is rather minimalist, even the Skeleton has a rather austere look, quite a rare feature for such a watch, readability is not sacrificed for the sake of showing the internal parts of the mechanism.

The 42 mm / 11 mm case comes in a lugless design – something that Xetum made popular – and because of this the Chroma wears actually smaller than you typical 42 mm watch.

To power it, Zelos is proposing the Miyota 8N24 for the Skeletons and Miyota 8215 for the others.

As the project is already exceeded its target there are only a couple of pledges still available: $249 CAD for a Chroma or $299 CAD for a Chroma Skeleton.

As a graphic designer, I'm fascinated by the crossroads between technology and aesthetics. Horology is one of these crafts, where art and engineering come together to produce mechanical wonders that grace the eye. WatchPaper was born from the desire to create an online tool where I can share my passion for watches.
