Perth Australia-based Haigh & Hastings is one of those watch brands that I had the pleasure to follow from their very early days, from the time when their website was nothing more than a picture, a slogan and a coming soon message. In their two years existence, they came a long way, launching the M2 Diver, and two super cool, military themed versions, one for the Australian elite special forces and a Gallipoli Centenary timepiece.

Yesterday, they have announced their collaboration with world-renowned Swiss watch designer Emmanuel Gueit, from EG Studio SA, who previously was the head of design at Audemar Piguet and Fossil Group.

First they will launch a limited edition unisex lifestyle watch with quartz movement, followed by a classic men’s automatic watch range, which should be ready for Haigh & Hastings’ second anniversary in February 2016.

Designer Emmanuel Gueit commented:

I was drawn to this new Australian brand by its cool, aspirational, adventurous image. I am delighted to have designed these watch lines for Haigh & Hastings. I am looking forward to continued collaboration with this dynamic new company.

Preorders will start soon, so make sure to keep an eye on www.haighandhastings.com

As a graphic designer, I'm fascinated by the crossroads between technology and aesthetics. Horology is one of these crafts, where art and engineering come together to produce mechanical wonders that grace the eye. WatchPaper was born from the desire to create an online tool where I can share my passion for watches.
