At Baselworld, Hamilton will present a lineup of new watches that continue to use their long power reserve movements introduced in 2014. Fans of diver watches will be happy to discover the Khaki Navy Frogman collection, there is another collection inspired by Broadway, Hamilton will introduce a gold watch (!) and ladies are not forgotten either.

In the past few years, we’ve seen dressier Hamilton watches with gold PVD, but it’s been a long time since this entry-level brand would present a timepiece with a solid gold case. Apparently there is also a demand for slim automatic gold watches, and the Jazzmaster was the ideal candidate to be given a noble housing.

40 mm case is made of 18k pink gold, and judging from the pictures, it complements nicely the silver-toned dial, domed around the edges. There is no better place for a date window on a dial than the 6 o’clock position and just like with the Jazzmaster Thinline Gold, we will see that other 2016 Hamilton models have their date window at 6. A final thought about the dial, I find it interesting the way Hamilton combined the H logo, used by the brand in the 60s, with their modern logotype.

The Thinline Gold is powered by the automatic ETA 2892-2, instead of an H-series movement because of its thinness.

Priced at $6,760 CAD, it is clearly aimed at passionate collectors of Hamilton watches.

The Broadway collection

Hamilton Broadway Day Date Automatic

This year, Hamilton is unveiling a completely new collection of watches, named after the legendary street in New York’s theater district. The collection is debuted with three models: a 40 mm Day Date Quartz, a 42 mm Day Date Automatic option and a 43 mm Auto Chrono.

The vertical lines of the dial are a representation of Broadway street running between skyscrapers, a motif extended to the strap too. The indexes, the hands, everything on the dial was designed to remind the urban landscape of New York.

The smaller, quartz version has the day and the date windows at 3 o’clock while the automatic model will have it at 6. The Day Date Auto, powered by the H-30 automatic calibre with 80 hours of power reserve will retail for $1,225 CAD / $1,325 CAD on bracelet while the quartz model will cost $715 CAD / $815 CAD on bracelet.

Hamilton Broadway Auto Chrono

The third model, the 43 mm Auto Chrono features a tachymeter on the polished bezel and it is powered by the H-21 automatic calibre with 60 hours of power reserve. The MSRP of the Broadway Auto Chrono is $2,395 CAD / $2,495 on bracelet.

Hamilton Khaki Navy Frogman

In 2016, Hamilton is relaunching the Khaki Navy Frogman watch that originally, in the 40s, they have designed for the US Navy Frogmen. That model became also the first Hamilton watch to be featured in a Hollywood movie, the 1951 blockbuster, The Frogmen. As we know, this film was followed by more than 450 other screen appearances for Hamilton.

42 mm Hamilton Khaki Navy Frogman

The 2016 Frogman comes in two versions: a 46 mm titanium model with HEV and with a bright red bezel, and a 42 mm stainless steel model, without HEV and with a choice of black or blue bezel. They are both powered by the H-10 automatic calibre with 80 hours of power reserve.

The bigger titanium model is water resistant to 1000 m while the 42 mm Frogman is guaranteed to 300 m.

The masculine proportions and bold design is completed by the canteen crown-protection, a nod to the military origins of the watch. Price-wise, the 46 mm titanium Frogman is $1,820 CAD, and for the 42 mm you can choose bracelet or rubber strap, it will cost the same $1,370 CAD.

The Jazzmaster Open Heart Lady is one of the best examples of rendering a skeleton dial feminine. The H-10 automatic movement is revealed through three petals of a mother-of-pearl lotus floating on the silver surface of the dial. The four cardinal points on the dial are highlighted by polished silvery indexes while the lume-filled hands further enhance the organic, feminine design of this watch.

Prices will start at $1,360 CAD for the models with leather strap and $1,460 CAD on bracelet.

We saw the RailRoad Lady collection last year, and in 2016, Hamilton is adding two new versions with champagne dial: a 32 mm automatic with date, priced at $1,395 CAD / $1,495 CAD on bracelet and a 28 mm quartz counterpart, starting at $795 CAD / $895 CAD on bracelet.

Marlyn, dress all in pink was singing “Diamonds are the girl’s best friend”, well, not all girls share this view. For them, Hamilton will launch a 36 mm version of their highly successful Khaki Navy Pioneer, a model rooted in Hamilton’s collaboration with the American Navy, for which the brand helped develop navigational tools during World War II.

There will be two models, one stainless steel with flame-blued hands and the other is rose gold PVD coated stainless steel with matching gold coated hands.

The stainless steel will retail for $1,230 CAD and the gold PVD model will cost $1,370 CAD.
