Today, officials from Omega in the presence of IOC members, political figures and organisers of the PyeongChang Olympic games, have started the countdown to the next Winter Games that will start in exactly one year from today. It is a reminder for us, fans of winter sports, that the PyeongChang 2018 are not far away, well at least in time. As the official timekeeper, Omega also marked the event by unveiling a newcomer to their “PyeongChang 2018” collection, a special edition Seamaster Planet Ocean dressed in the colours of the Korean flag, bright red and blue.

The case measures 43,5 mm and its unidirectional rotating bezel is equipped with unique insert, the world’s first polished blue ceramic ring with rubber and Liquidmetal diving scale, with red rubber for the first 15 minutes — Liquidmetal is a zirconium-based alloy developed by Omega, to be used in combination with ceramics.

The rhodium-coated indexes on the blue ceramic dial, the hour hand and the seconds hand are coated with white Super-LumiNova, while the minute hand and the dot on the bezel will glow in green.

The sapphire crystal on the back features the words “PyeongChang 2018” and Winter Games logo. Behind them, we can have a peek at the superb METAS certified Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8900.

As a graphic designer, I'm fascinated by the crossroads between technology and aesthetics. Horology is one of these crafts, where art and engineering come together to produce mechanical wonders that grace the eye. WatchPaper was born from the desire to create an online tool where I can share my passion for watches.
